How to improve?

Go to clinics, lessons, read books, watch videos, decide what you like or don't like, what works for your program. Spend as many hours as you can in the saddle, with horses & horse activities. Always keep growing in your equine life. Set goals, chase your dreams, and most of all never give up your passion!

"Ride with Heart" ❤️ is TLC's motto, meaning horses are a gift from God and they should always come before the sport. Also, to always give 100% inside & outside the arena to be the best trainer, horseman and competitor you can be.   

Realize there have been studies that it takes 10,000 hours to master your skill, so do something daily towards your goal. Be patient, enjoy the journey and above all keep it fun.

It's very important you control your thoughts, as thoughts control feelings, feelings control actions, actions control results. So master your thoughts to master your results.

I've been teaching all day barrel racing and horsemanship clinics for over 20 years now, approximately 10 to 12 per year all over Florida. 

Clinics are great to team build, as well as watch and learn with other like minded cowgirls & cowboys.

I love helping teams from beginners to advanced meet goals.

For the last 5 years I offer an online coaching group which includes video critiques of your competition or training videos.

Understanding what your cues mean to your horse, how to effectively communicate with your horse in slow work doing dry work & drills and in competition, knowing where to position them, when and how to tune up during the week, how to improve your mental game for competition are all things I teach in clinics, lessons and online coaching.

I love when a rider comes to a clinic with a goal or concern. We can work on it throughout the day and see the progress by the end of the day in the final videotaped run.

I request videos before the clinic, concerns and goals. I only take 8 riders for more 1 on 1.

I am blessed to have professionally trained and competed for 27 years. I have since pivoted my business the last 5 years to full time coaching with clinics, lessons and online coaching. 

TLC Barrel Horse Training was established 33 years ago, 1992.

After you attend a clinic you also get 1 month free in my online coaching group. It includes video critiques of your training and competition.

TLC Barrels is a full program to help you become your personal best with your horse.  

I have been blessed to train and win at futurity, derby, super show & rodeo on several personal horses 1D with up to 250 entries. Equally as rewarding to have helped riders fill their WPRA permits, win 1D at open and youth world and district events and give beginners better foundations with their horses. 

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a horse and rider become a happy team, loving what they do at every level. 

I do think a rider needs to be open to being coached and getting out of their comfort zone to get to the next level in horsemanship & performance.
